Douglas is Director of the Country Land & Business Association in the North West and North East Regions, and as such represents landowning interests on many groups. 

He is currently Vice Chairman of the North West Rural Affairs Forum, a Governor of Myerscough College and is involved with youth coaching at Upper Eden R.U.F.C.
