Before his accident Kris was very active and climbed, abseiled, parachuted and trail-rode on a regular basis.  He has been in a wheelchair since 1993 and consequently has had to retrain for a career, whilst also learning about disability access.  

He is currently taking Media studies, with the aim of either continuing as a professional journalist or as a press officer.  

Kris has been a volunteer photographer/journalist for the North Western Evening Mail's Community press over the past few years and has had photographs and stories published by local and community papers on several occasions.  

He has advised Cumbria County Council's Countryside Access team, Capita and Barrow Borough Council on disability and access issues and the Disability Discrimination Act, a subject close to his heart for obvious reasons, and has also worked closely with Countryside Access Team members and other CLAF members auditing routes suitable for people with limited mobility.
